Mel
Thomason had no intentions to show his 81 Corvette when he bought it
four years ago. In his words, "I liked what I saw when I saw it and I
bought it."
Until he got his wake up call, Mel didnt realize
that the car person inside him was trying to get out and express himself with
this Vette. The car already had great paint. The interior was completely restored
and ready to show. All the Vette needed was an owner to balance the hot looks
with a hot engine and a detailed undercarriage. Mel was the right guy for
the job; it just took a few enthusiastic club members to make him realize
his potential.
For the first year, Mel was content with his Vette,
which fools a lot of people. They think it is a stocker or they scratch their
heads wondering about it. It sure looks stock, or the way Chevrolet might
have built one.
