to produce 385-horsepower

at 6,000 rpm and 385 lb./ft/

of torque at 4,800 rpm.

425-horsepower version of the big-block 454 for the Corvette, with racing in mind. It was second only to the legendary L88 racing 427 engine that was available from 1967-69. Despite the fact that just 188 Corvettes were sold with the powerful LS6 big-block, it occupies a special place in Corvette lore.
   
Based on the 5.7-liter LS1 engine in the 2001 Corvette coupe and convertible, the LS6 includes a number of performance enhancements to produce 385-horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 385 lb./ft/ of torque at 4,800 rpm. The redline is 6,500 rpm (versus the LS1’s 6,000 rpm), and the torque curve is slightly biased toward the upper rpm range where the power can be most appreciated at the track.
