That’s when the Martleys discovered that “someone” had forgot to put the new
insurance card in the glove box, and their old one was four months expired.
Fortunately, a few phone calls, a fax, and $40 later, the 1982 Corvette had
the necessary transport tag and the couple headed back to Reading.
“We
took some pictures of the car, then looked at each other and said, ‘We must
be nuts!’ This is the second scariest thing we have done. The first was getting
married,” Jim told us. “For the rest of the night all we could think about was
where to park it...was it going to be safe...was it going to make it home...what
have we done?”
For
the next two months, the Vette put in serious road time. A “little noise” in
the rear grew louder, so Jim berthed the car in the garage and went to work.
