<< Return <<      that’s an RPO 579 283 cubic inch fuel-injected engine developing 283 horsepower and 290 lbs.-ft. of torque. The 283 Fuelie was the top performance engine in 1957, with a 10.5:1 compression ratio and hi-lift camshaft. Mated to the 283 is a Warner T10 four-speed transmission and 4.56:1 limited slip rear.
When the body is completed and painted in Onyx Black, it will be mated to the chassis. While reuniting the body and chassis is a great milestone in the life of a restoration, it’s also bittersweet. In some ways it’s sad to see that gorgeous chassis be hidden from sight. That’s why we wanted to show it to you now, so you can see Kevin’s handiwork and to appreciate how gorgeous a restored rolling chassis can be. When he’s finished, we’ll be back to photograph the completed restoration, but for now we can enjoy this moveable feast.
