<< Return <<      When we were looking for some vintage Corvettes to shoot for features, we asked our friend Ray "Minnow" Robichaud. Minnow is plugged into Florida’s West Coast Corvette community and knows who has the neatest cars. In no time he had compiled a list of older Corvettes for us to photograph, and the first one to catch our eye was this 1957 rolling chassis, owned by Kevin Rawlings of New Port Richey, Florida.
     Kevin purchased the ’57 two years ago with just 79,000
miles showing and immediately began the disassembly process. After two years, he’s completed the rolling chassis and it’s just flat gorgeous. This is the second Corvette he’s restored, so he knows the procedures — and the hassles — incurred when doing a body-off restoration.
     Most restorers love the work involved in rebuilding a car, and the rolling chassis is as much a work of art as any gleaming fender. Perhaps more, because it blends so many elements and colors together. Of course, the heart and soul is the engine, and for Kevin’s ’57,
