Over
the last 25 years, Boyd Coddington has become a legendary builder of rods
and customs. Who hasn’t heard of Cadzilla, the ‘48 Cadillac sedanette designed
by Larry Erickson and radically modified by Boyd for Billy Gibbons of the
rock group ZZ Top? Another Boyd classic is CheZoom, a ‘57 Chevy custom conceived
by Thom Taylor and built for Joe Hrudka. We could list the rods, too, by the
dozens. These vehicles have had such an influence on the hot rod industry
that they have unique names, such as the Smoothster, the Boydster, and the
Sportstar.
