Providing the source and the command center for the audio is an Alpine CVA-1005 AM/FM radio/multimedia control system, which features a 6.4-inch LCD display that motors out of the dash when Kaplan starts the car and slides back in when he turns the ignition off. The system includes Alpine’s AiNET that allows digital communication between the control center and other components of the sound system, including the CD changer, processors, and navigation system. And all three are involved.

Top: The amplifier, processor, navigation system, and CD changer were all mounted in the convertible top storage section.

Bottom: A custom-made top covers the components, except the amplifier, in the convertible top storage area, so Kaplan can still use the area to store things. Perforated aluminum, wrapped in carpet, covers the subwoofers to allow the bass to escape from the enclosure.
