Our test car
had a more tuned feel than our personal C5, which speaks for the continued refinements
made by Mr. Hill and the Corvette Engineering Group. The Magnasteer II setup
was tight and exact. Throttle response was instant thanks to a first gear ratio
of 3.06:1. The standard rear gearing with the automatic is a tall 2.79:1, however
our convertible was equipped with the deeper 3.15:1 gearset that packed a serious
wallop off the line and through the gears. The LS1 is such a seamless engine
with a torque curve thats flat and strong throughout the rpm range.
Of course, most
convertible owners are cruisers and not street racers, and the 2000 roadster
is as sweet a boulevard bruiser at they come. Equipped optionally on our roadster
