moon shot, on november 14-24, 1969, placed the third and fourth men, Conrad and Bean, on the moon. The two piloted the Lunar Module Intrepid to the first pinpoint landing on the moon, touching down a mere 600 feet from their target, the unmanned Surveyor 3 probe. Conrad and Bean collected just shy of 75 pounds of lunar soil samples and rocks over the course of two moonwalks.
    Bean later served on Skylab 2, and has since become an accomplished artist, painting scenes from America’s various adventures in space. With all of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the first moonwalks generating so much interest in 1999, the National Corvette Museum is planning a special display of astronaut
