especially for the Apollo 12 "Astro Vettes." The only differences between the three were the emblems on the fenders. The emblems contained the initials for each astronaut’s flight classification, with Commander Charles "Pete" Conrad Jr.'s Corvette sporting a CDR script in the white portion of the emblem. Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon’s car had CMD written in the red space. Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean’s Corvette had LMP written in the blue area.
    Alan Bean’s original 1969 Astro Vette has been carefully preserved and refurbished by Danny Reed of Austin, Texas. Reed has owned the ’Vette since 1971. The car was in decent shape when he bought it, but needed paint and some engine work. In 1991 Reed gave the car a complete freshening, bringing it to its current condition. He rarely shows the car, although he has made it a part of NASA’s annual open house in Houston.
    A serious space enthusiast (and former boat racer), Reed owns an incredible collection of NASA-related memorabilia and can recite Apollo 12 yore in great detail. And Apollo 12 was a great mission to commemorate. The Apollo 12
