generation (C5) Corvette. Their first creation, the Mallett 435, was race tested in the grueling 1997 One Lap of America. The car was only five weeks old when it competed in the 7,000-mile race around the United States in six days. Team driver Jim Minneker raced on 13 racetracks and finished second overall in the event. The Mallett 435 experienced no mechanical problems during the 184- hour event.

Just before Simon drove the Corvette, he had taken the Porsche out for best lap time of 1.28 seconds. By the end of weekend Simon had carved his Corvette lap time down to 1.21 seconds.
