(C5) Corvette. Their first creation, the Mallett 435, was race tested in the
grueling 1997 One Lap of America. The car was only five weeks old when it competed
in the 7,000-mile race around the United States in six days. Team driver Jim
Minneker raced on 13 racetracks and finished second overall in the event. The
Mallett 435 experienced no mechanical problems during the 184- hour event.
Based on this performance, Mallett Cars Ltd. began
designing a production version of their racer. Introduced as a 1998 model, the
Mallett 435 is now in its second year of production and is based

WHATSA MALLETT?
Chuck and Lance Mallett have been involved in car repair, car modifications
and racing for the past 30 years. They grew up in a racing family and have continued
the family heritage as adults. As Mallett Motorsports, they have been involved
with Trans-Am, World Challenge and Winston
Cup racing.
More recently, Mallett Motorsports changed its focus
from racing to purpose-built, race-quality specialty street C-5 Corvettes by
founding Mallett Cars Ltd. in 1997 by Chuck, Lance and long-time associate Dave
Sarafian. The new venture set out to produce the fastest, highest quality signature

before Simon drove the Corvette, he had taken the Porsche out for best lap time
of 1.28 seconds. By the end of weekend Simon had carved his Corvette lap time
down to 1.21 seconds.
