Click here to go back  We were in a Mallett 435 Corvette built by Mallett Cars, LTD., owned by brothers Chuck and Lance Mallett and Dave Sarafian. We rode with Simon Gregg around Roebling Road in Mallett's new creation to learn first hand what new toy they have wrought for the performance-oriented Corvette buyer. We were impressed, and so was Simon Gregg. Simon comes from a Porsche family.
His late father Peter, was a mult- International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) champion driving, you guessed it, a Porsche. Simon brought his own $110,000 all wheel drive, black twin turbo to Roebling for some comparisons between the new Corvette and his own ride. Simon lives in Jacksonville and considers Roebling his home track.
After returning to the pits, Simon
exclaimed, "This car is a real ego builder! It has an incredible torque range. It pulled from 2,000 to 5,600 rpm with no gaps in the power. My Porsche twin turbo has all wheel drive which slides less than the Corvette. But the Porsche will suddenly let go, usually at the back end and get the driver in trouble. The Mallett 435 is a lot more forgiving, the suspension is more settled and feels more stable than my Porsche.

Below: Special badging marks this as a very special C5.
