and knows the cars inside and out, approached his booth and asked Gordon if
he knew anything about ZR1s. Gordon said he did, checked the troubleshooting
codes from the ALDL and found the fuel pump had failed. He went out into the
swap meet, found a pump and helped the owner install it. That's a great example
of the "can do" willingness to help other enthusiasts that makes the Corvette
hobby great.
The Sunday portion of Corvettes at Carlisle wound down
much later than usual. The crowds flocked to the Grandstand to see the recipients
of the Fun Display Celebrity Judge awards, which began at 2 p.m. Over 115 Corvettes
were chosen by Celebrity Judges, who make their choices using their own criteria.
You really have to hand it to Bill
and Chip Miller. It's the end of a long weekend and with over 100 awards to
hand out in the heat and these guys are enthusiastic and caring. Major events
always reflect the character of the people who produce them and these two guys
really love the hobby.
Perhaps that's why the crowds lingered into the late
afternoon as others were packing up and contemplating the ride home. Many made
one last pass through the shrinking swap meet or looked over the remaining cars
on
the showfield.
Mid
America Designs Mike Yager spent a few minutes with CorvetteMagazine.com's
editor Paul Zazarine to discuss the show, Mid America's support of the hobby
and their upcoming show in Effingham Illinois next month.
CorvetteMagazine.com's
editor Paul Zazarine was a Celebrity Judge for the Fun Display and chose this
Saddle Tan 1964 roadster owned by Mark and Vickie Cresap of Jefferson, Maryland
for an award. His reason? "I would love to have this car in my garage!"
