This
is Sunday, the last day of the three-day
Corvettes at Carlisle. With virtually perfect
weather, huge crowds and more cars
than the Fairgrounds could handle,
this weekend has been a Corvette
lover's dream. We would expect
the swap meet and the showfields
to be dwindling down by early
afternoon, but all activities were still
going strong. It was as if no one wanted
to leave.
Although it's too early to report attendance
numbers (the folks at Carlisle Productions will
have those numbers in a few days), they do report there have
been more than 50,000 people pass through the gate this weekend. We do know
that
Fun Display attendance exceeded last year's crowd.
Although the scope of Corvettes at Carlisle is huge,
it's still all about people. One owner
drove his ZR1 to Carlisle to sell it. The car died right on the showfield, directly
across form Gordon Killebrew's booth. The owner, not aware that Gordon worked
at Bowling Green
The
Pace Car Registry was well represented at Corvettes at Carlisle. Corvette
registries have grown in popularity over the years and meeting at shows like
Carlisle brings members together.
