It's
Friday at Carlisle and the Corvettes have been streaming in since early morning.
While the C5s are plentiful (as one would expect) especially the new Millennium
Yellow, from our vantage point at the main entrance there are plenty of C4s,
followed by softnose Corvettes (1974 - 1982) streaming in. Each year you can
gauge how successful Corvettes at Carlisle will be by the attendance on Friday.
By our observation, this year's first-day attendance will be a record setter.
If our estimation is correct, than the 1999 Corvettes at Carlisle will shatter
all the attendance records for major Corvette events. In one word, this years
event is awesome.
One of the events within the big event that is Carlisle
is the Fun Display. This year,
CorvetteMagazine.com is co-hosting the Fun Display with Mid America Designs.
Acres of space are set aside around the huge Fun Display for participants to
park their Corvettes. By Friday afternoon, a considerable amount of the acreage
was already taken up. If you are planning to attend Saturday, we highly recommend
you arrive before the gates open at 7 AM. Come later and you may end up parking
your Corvette a few miles from the Fairground.
Next to the Fun Display is Chevrolet Engineering's
tent, housing a selection of C5s, a cutaway LS1 engine display and the newly
unveiled Corvette C5R racer. Along with all the neat hardware, you
