The weekend format separates cars into four groups (according to the driver’s skill). Each session is 20 minutes. Skip offers novice drivers qualified driving instructors to give advice on proper car control. Trained drivers attempt to get a best time of the day during one of their sessions. The format was an instant success. In 1998, Michelin tires became the event sponsor and Skip added a "wheel to wheel" race to improve interest in the series. The wheel to wheel event pits the most accomplished drivers against each other in modified Vipers for one thirty minute event on Saturday and Sunday.
