The Corvette and its followers received a welcome dose of adrenaline and enthusiasm with the 1978 model year. For starters, the Corvette would mark its 25th anniversary that year, and to celebrate the milestone, Chevrolet recognized the occasion by applying special "25th Anniversary" badging to all 78 models. Add to that a little body makeover in the form of a new fastback rear window (delivering improved visibility and behind-the-seat storage), a more pronounced and snappy integrated rear "wing" decklid and a front spoiler, and Vette buffs again had something to shout about. For those who wanted to take the celebration thing one step further, the B2Z Silver Anniversary paint option (two-tone silver with requisite aluminum wheels and dual sport mirrors) was available. In all 15,283 models rolled off the assembly line in this striking form.
