This particular Corvette compromises none of its factory-engineered driveability
and your significant other would enjoy driving (and hearing) as much as any
other 'stock' Corvette? If you are like most Corvette enthusiasts, you'd say,
"I don't think that's really possible." Well, it is possible. Lingenfelter Performance
Engineering in Decatur, Indiana - one of the top Corvette tuners in the free
world - has reached into his magic bag and pulled out a truly awesome LS1 engine
package - The LPE Twin Turbo C5 Corvette.
Let me share with you how I was formally introduced
to this breathtaking car.
While driving my ZR-1 from Jacksonville, FL to Grand
Rapids, MI to cover the Western Michigan Grand Prix, I stopped by Lingenfelter
Performance Engineering to meet with Graham Behan. For those of you who haven't
had the pleasure of meeting Graham, he's a delightful Brit with one of those
ear-pleasing English accents (he thinks we have the accent). He was also
the Lotus Project Manager during the Corvette LT5 engine development program
in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
I pulled my '93 ZR1 into the LPE lot and Graham came
strolling out of the dyno shop with one of his big smiles. I caught the set
of keys he tossed to me and asked what they were for. Graham pointed to a Black/Black
C5 6-speed Convertible sitting off to the side. I was about to find out this
was the famous new Lingenfelter LPE Twin Turbo C5 package!
