Go
back
to Team Corvette and is responsible for integrating production car components
into the racecar. Ken told CorvetteMagazine.com that car #73 (which was
sporting new white paint), is equipped with a carbon fiber front sway bar. This
bar is hollow and eighteen pounds lighter than the metal unit. This lowers the
front suspension unsprung weight for better handling. The #73 car is also equipped
with a new transmission. The transmission is lighter and fitted more towards
the rear of the car, which improves weight distribution.
Details
of the internal engine
design are still sketchy, but it
was obvious during the test
sessions that the engine
sounded different and
produced a lot more torque
out of the corners than
the 6-litre engine in car #73.
Corvette
Racings driver lineup was announced during the Sebring test session. Standing
from left to right in front of the #3 Corvette is Chris Kneifel, Ron Fellows,
Andy Pilgrim, Kelly Collins and Justin Bell. The sixth driver, Franck Freon
from France was unable to attend the test session.
