8. Remove the power valve from the metering body with a 1" box-end or open-end wrench, or socket. Be careful to avoid damaging the metering block surface. Also remove the idle mixture screws and the gaskets surround them. After the primary metering block is completely stripped, do the same with the secondary block.


9. Open the choke plate fully and loosen and remove the Phillips-head screw that holds the nozzle in place. Then remove the screw and invert the carburetor with your hand over the primary throttle bores. The nozzle and check valve should drop into your hand. The thin gasket between the nozzle and main body may have to be scraped loose. If you’re rebuilding a double-pumper, there’s also a pump nozzle on the secondary side.

7. After you remove the diaphragm, the pump cavity and return spring are visible. Remove the spring and save it. Then flip the float bowl around so you can access the float and remove the two screws that hold it in place. If you’re working with a vacuum secondary carburetor, remove the diaphragm housing after you’ve disassembled the float bowl.
