The exterior completes the old/new theme beginning
with the 1991 Corvette Turquoise Metallic paint with the Pearl White Grand Sport
stripe. Up front, the bumper has been removed like so many mid-year Corvettes
in the Sixties and the mounting holes filled. To accommodate the big 16-inch
Goodyears, the fenders were flared.
Jim took the '66 to the Black Hills Classic in South
Dakota several years ago and ended up with the late Larry Shinoda taking the
Corvette out for a test drive. After he was done, Larry signed the glove box
and wrote: "The nicest Corvette I have ever driven. I can't stop grinning!"
We can understand how Larry felt, because Jim's sizzling '66 is a timeless cruiser
that combines the best of Corvette generations.
